Stephen Ferenz

Staff Sergeant Stephen Ferenz is a U.S. Air Force security policeman known for his involvement in a significant UFO sighting at Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico. On August 8, 1980, at approximately 11:50 p.m., Ferenz, along with Airman First Class Martin W. Rist and Airman Anthony D. Frazier, was guarding the weapons storage area when they observed a very bright light in the sky about three miles away. The object traveled with great speed and stopped suddenly over the test range. This incident, detailed in a report obtained by ufologist Barry Greenwood, coincided with activities involving Dr. Paul Bennewitz, who also witnessed unusual aerial phenomena near Manzano Base and contacted base officials. Ferenz's testimony contributed to investigations linking UFOs to nuclear facilities, though no further personal publications or testimonies from him are documented in available sources.
