Travis Walton (born 1953) is an American logger who says he was abducted by a UFO on 5 November 1975 near Snowflake, Arizona. Six co-workers saw him struck by a beam of light from a hovering disc, Walton disappeared for five days, and all six co-workers subsequently passed polygraph tests. The case was investigated by APRO, inspired the 1993 film Fire in the Sky and remains one of the most thoroughly investigated abduction claims in UFO history.

  • American logger, born 1953
  • Reported a UFO abduction on 5 November 1975 near Snowflake, Arizona
  • Six co-workers saw him struck by a beam of light from a hovering disc
  • Disappeared for five days
  • Six co-workers passed polygraph tests
  • Walton described waking aboard a craft and encountering both human-like and non-human beings
  • Investigated by APRO; basis of the 1993 film Fire in the Sky; extensive testing and multiple witnesses

For the UAP timeline, Walton is perhaps the most thoroughly investigated worker-abduction case of American ufology — multiple witnesses, polygraph tests and a Hollywood adaptation make him a standard case against which methodological debates about abduction reports are played out over and over again.
