\"Unidentified motorist\" is a pseudonym for an anonymous individual linked to the 1965 Rex Heflin UFO photo incident in Santa Ana, California. On August 3, 1965, shortly after Heflin photographed a disc-shaped UFO, a dark blue car with obscured lettering pulled up beside him. Heflin observed movement in the back seat, presumed to be a second occupant, and a strange purplish glow emanating from that area. The vehicle departed rapidly without interaction. This encounter, detailed in a reanalysis by the Society for Scientific Exploration, fueled speculation of government or intelligence surveillance of UFO witnesses.
