Val Johnson was a deputy sheriff in Marshall County, Minnesota. On the night of 27 August 1979 his patrol car was struck by a bright light near the North Dakota border, and Johnson briefly lost consciousness. The subsequently documented damage to his vehicle made the Val Johnson incident one of the most compelling vehicle-interference cases in UFO history.
- Deputy sheriff serving Marshall County, Minnesota
- Patrol car struck by a bright light near the North Dakota border on 27 August 1979
- Cracked windshield, bent antenna and a stopped clock as documented physical traces
- Lost consciousness during the encounter
- Car and deputy examined by investigators; no conventional explanation was found
The case stands out among vehicle-interference incidents because of its physical evidence and the prior-credibility profile of the witness as a serving law-enforcement officer.
