Yuri Labvin (also spelled Lavbin), a Russian scientist, served as president of the Tunguska Spatial Phenomenon Foundation, dedicated to investigating the 1908 Tunguska event in Siberia. He promoted the fringe theory that an alien UFO deliberately collided with a massive meteor to prevent it from striking Earth, saving humanity in a suicide mission. Labvin cited expeditions uncovering quartz slabs with intricate markings, interpreted as remnants of an alien control panel, and rare ferrum silicate only producible in space. He claimed these formed a navigational map and featured a strange portrait. His assertions, announced around 2009, drew widespread media attention but skepticism from mainstream scientists who attribute Tunguska to a natural airburst of a comet or asteroid. No peer-reviewed publications or formal testimony in government UFO programs are documented; his work remains in the realm of pseudoscience.
