Bruce Ashcroft
Bruce Ashcroft is an American military historian who served as chief historian at the Air Force Historical Research Agency. He played a key role in the U.S. Air Force's official investigations into the 1947 Roswell Incident, contributing expertise to reports that debunked extraterrestrial claims by attributing the event to Project Mogul, a classified high-altitude balloon program for detecting Soviet nuclear tests. His assistance was acknowledged in 'The Roswell Report: Fact versus Fiction in the New Mexico Desert' (1994), where he provided detailed historical insights, drawing from his prior experience as a historian in New Mexico. Ashcroft's work helped clarify that debris recovered by the 509th Bombardment Group was from research balloons, countering UFO narratives.
