Rear Admiral Delmar S. Fahrney (1898-1984)
U.S. Navy officer known as the 'father of the guided missile' for his pioneering work in naval guided missile development. Fahrney was one of the founding Board of Governors members of NICAP (National Investigations Committee on Aerial Phenomena) when it was chartered on October 24, 1956. He was among three admirals on the board, alongside Vice Admiral Roscoe Hillenkoetter and Rear Admiral H.B. Knowles.
Fahrney agreed that many naval personnel 'don't like the [secrecy] policy' regarding UFOs, reflecting the Navy's broader resistance to the Air Force's monopoly on UFO information management.
