Fina d'Armada
Fina d'Armada is a Portuguese historian and researcher who holds a Master's degree in Women's Studies. She has dedicated more than 25 years to extensive research on the Fátima case, during which she gained access to previously restricted Portuguese church archives and original witness depositions that had not been published in their complete form.
Together with Joaquim Fernandes, d'Armada conducted a groundbreaking re-examination of the 1917 Fátima apparitions through the lens of UAP research. Her archival work revealed significant discrepancies between the original witness accounts and the later, religiously-framed narrative promoted by the Catholic Church. Original testimonies described a small, luminous humanoid figure that was not specifically identified as the Virgin Mary by the children. Witnesses also reported unusual buzzing sounds and a silvery disc-shaped aerial object, while physiological effects were documented on witnesses. These accounts are consistent with Close Encounter reports.
D'Armada and Fernandes co-authored several definitive works that have become reference materials for researchers, including Celestial Secrets: The Hidden History of the Fátima Incident (2007), Fatima Revisited (2008), As Aparições de Fátima e o Fenómeno OVNI (original Portuguese publication), and Fátima: Nos Bastidores do Segredo. These publications examine the overlap between religious apparitions and UAP encounters, offering alternative interpretations of the Fátima case based on original documentary evidence.
