Helene Cooper (born April 22, 1966) is a Liberian-born American journalist and Pentagon correspondent for The New York Times. She joined the Times in 2004, previously serving as White House and diplomatic correspondent, and earlier worked at The Wall Street Journal. A Pulitzer Prize winner for 2015 International Reporting on the Ebola crisis, she authored memoirs The House at Sugar Beach (2008, National Book Critics Circle finalist) and Madame President (2017). In UAP/UFO context, she co-authored the landmark December 2017 New York Times articles on the Pentagon's AATIP program with Leslie Kean and Ralph Blumenthal, revealing the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program and Navy pilot encounters with unidentified aerial phenomena, significantly advancing public disclosure of government UFO investigations.
