Jacinta Marto
Jacinta Marto (1910–1920) was one of the three child witnesses of the Fatima apparitions in Portugal in 1917, along with her brother Francisco and cousin Lucia dos Santos. Over a period of six months, the children reported seeing a luminous figure and experiencing phenomena involving encounters with a brilliant entity. These apparitions culminated in the Miracle of the Sun on October 13, 1917, an event witnessed by an estimated 30,000 to 70,000 people, and included the prophetic vision known as the Three Secrets of Fatima.
Deeply involved in the Fatima events as a young visionary, Jacinta experienced phenomena including prophetic visions and contributed to reports of the encounters and the miracle. She died at age 9 during the 1918 influenza pandemic and was canonized as a saint by
