Joel Montalbano

Joel R. Montalbano is an American NASA executive with over two decades of experience in human spaceflight. He served as International Space Station (ISS) Program Manager from around 2020, managing operations in Russia and Kazakhstan for 4.5 years, Mission Integration for early expeditions, and Mission Evaluation Room roles during shuttle assembly flights (2005-2012). He advanced to Deputy Associate Administrator for the Space Operations Mission Directorate and, as of February 26, 2026, acts as Associate Administrator for SOMD at NASA Headquarters. In UAP/UFO context, his email (joel.r.montalbano@nasa.gov) was searched in FOIA requests by John Greenewald Jr. for NASA records on UFO, UAP, Unidentified Spacecraft, and UAPTF from 2020 onward; he received a classified UAP briefing invitation.
