Josef Garcia

Josef Garcia is a German UFO researcher and the leading expert on passive radar at the Gesellschaft zur Erforschung des UFO-Phänomens (GEP), a prominent organization dedicated to technical UFO investigations. He operates a continuous passive radar station that monitors parts of the sky, a technology highlighted in JUFOF 257 (5-2021) for its applications in UAP research. His birth and death years remain unknown, as do any publications beyond his contributions to GEP.

Garcia is actively involved in UAP/UFO research through his expertise in passive radar at GEP, conducting technical investigations using radar data to analyze sightings. His work focuses on correlating radar signals with visual observations.

A key achievement came in 2024 when Garcia investigated a credible eyewitness sighting. The witness, known personally to him, reported an unusual luminous phenomenon near his location at a distance of approximately 1,000 meters shortly after the event occurred. Garcia missed observing the phenomenon directly due to being in the shower at the time. However, analysis of his radar data revealed a matching signal, marking the world's first passive radar confirmation of a visual UFO/UAP sighting.

This unprecedented correlation elevated the case to 'GOOD UFO' status. No conventional aircraft were identified in connection with the sighting. Garcia conducted a detailed interview with the witness, though it yielded no further insights regarding noise or additional details of the brief event.
