Colonel Joseph Bryan III (1904-1981)

American intelligence officer and CIA operative. Bryan's boss at CIA was Nicolas de Rochefort, NICAP's first vice-chairman. Bryan himself joined the NICAP Board of Governors in 1960, representing what Richard Dolan identifies as part of the CIA's systematic infiltration of the civilian UFO organization.

The Robertson Panel of 1953, still secret in 1956, had explicitly recommended monitoring civilian UFO groups. Dolan argues NICAP could not have escaped CIA notice, noting that 'as early as 1957, CIA agents coerced NICAP advisor Ralph Mayher to give them a movie film depicting a UFO, which they later returned with the best frames cut out.'
