📝This entry contains basic data only and will be expanded in a future update.
Major General William F. McKee was a U.S. Air Force officer who served as director of research and development. In April 1949, McKee announced the findings of Project Sign, the Air Force's classified investigation into flying saucer reports that began in January 1948. According to official statements, the project found no evidence that reported flying saucers were anything other than natural phenomena. McKee's announcement represented an early official U.S. military position on UFO investigations during the post-World War II flying disc craze.
