Project Blue Book begins - Hynek stays on
Background
The successor program Project Blue Book launches under Captain Edward Ruppelt. Hynek is re-hired as consultant and remains the central scientific authority for the next 17 years. He personally reviews over 12,000 reports. Roughly 20 percent remain unexplained even after thorough analysis - a share that increasingly bothers him. Officially, though, he keeps his doubts to himself.
