The Incident
Masse described a smooth, oval-shaped craft roughly the size of a small automobile, supported by a central pedestal and six thin legs. As he approached, he reported seeing two figures standing beside the object:

- Large heads with smooth pale skin
- Oversized slanted eyes
- Wearing tight-fitting one-piece jumpsuits
One of the beings allegedly pointed a tube-like instrument at Masse, causing immediate paralysis that persisted for roughly fifteen minutes. During this time, he remained fully conscious but unable to move. The craft then ascended and departed at speed.
Physical Evidence
The encounter left measurable traces at the landing site:
- A moist indentation in the soil that hardened like concrete
- A hardened patch where the central support had rested
- A cylindrical hole approximately 30 centimeters deep with four lines radiating outward in an X pattern
- Soil analysis revealing abnormally high calcium levels
- Vegetation decay in the vicinity
- The affected section of his field reportedly refused to support lavender growth for several years afterward

Their report concluded that Masse's statements were "sincere and concordant," though they could not provide definitive material proof of an unidentified flying vehicle. Official and civilian agencies confirmed his sincerity and good character, while laboratory study of the affected soil and plants confirmed the occurrence of an unusual event.

The incident became a cornerstone case for GEPAN (Groupe d'Étude des Phénomènes Aérospatiaux Non-identifiés), the French government's official body for investigating unidentified aerospace phenomena, and later for its successor organization GEIPAN.
