Background
The Secretary of the Air Force issued formal termination orders for Project Blue Book in December 1969. This directive ended nearly two decades of continuous government-sponsored UFO research. The decision followed recommendations from the Condon Committee report and shifting defense priorities. All official investigation activities under the program's authority ceased operations by January 1970.
