Pampa Lluscuma: Soldier vanishes in UFO encounter, returns with 5-day beard
On April 25, 1977, Corporal Armando Valdes investigated a violet UFO near Putre, Chile. He vanished for fifteen minutes but his watch showed five days had passed. Upon return, he displayed several days of beard growth despite being clean-shaven before.
Background
In the early morning hours of April 25, 1977, a Chilean army patrol led by Corporal Armando Valdes experienced a bizarre encounter at the secret military post of Pampa Lluscuma near Putre. While the six-man unit sat around a campfire around 4:00 AM, Private Rosales reported two bright violet lights descending from the sky. One object approached the terrified soldiers silently, illuminating the entire area with strange violet light featuring red spots at each end.
Corporal Valdes moved toward the object alone after praying and demanding identification. He disappeared completely for approximately fifteen minutes according to witnesses. When he returned, he appeared shaken and spoke in an altered voice, uttering cryptic words about unknown visitors returning soon. He then lost consciousness for two hours.
The patrol noticed dramatic physical changes upon his return. Valdes, who had been clean-shaven, now possessed a beard suggesting several days of growth. His calendar watch displayed April 30 instead of April 25, though the time remained stopped at 4:30 AM. Medical examinations and potential hypnotic regression were planned, but President Augusto Pinochet prohibited further interviews with the soldiers involved.
