House of Lords UFO Debate: First-Ever Parliamentary Discussion, 60 Peers Attend
The first-ever UFO debate in the British House of Lords, initiated by Brinsley Le Poer Trench (8th Earl of Clancarty). Sixty peers and hundreds of onlookers attended β one of the best attended debates ever. MoD's Patrick Stevens (S4) had prepared a rebuttal; Lord Strabolgi presented the government's dismissive position. The debate filled 70 pages of Hansard. Clancarty's motion for a government investigation was defeated, but a UFO All-Party Study Group was founded with Lord Hill-Norton (Admiral of the Fleet) and Ralph Noyes among its 30 members.
