Background
On June 9, 2021, Thomas B. Bowman, serving as the National Reconnaissance Office's official Point of Contact for UAP Task Force matters, transmitted a TOP SECRET email to Director Christopher Scolese and senior deputies. This communication outlined three distinct efforts the NRO was undertaking regarding unidentified aerial phenomena. Most significantly, the message confirmed that the NRO had submitted four paragraphs of intelligence content for inclusion in the classified UAP Task Force report destined for Congressional review on June 25, 2021. The email further established that the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency provided GEOINT while the National Security Agency contributed SIGINT toward the UAP research effort, indicating that American spy satellites and intercepted communications played critical roles. Additionally, Bowman noted that the Department of Defense Inspector General had recently interviewed several officers from the NRO's Mission Integration Directorate as part of a broader evaluation launched in May 2021.
