Background
On June 28, 2022, The Black Vault obtained records through the Freedom of Information Act from the Department of Defense Inspector General. The release included emails from eight senior officials including the Acting Principal Deputy IG and General Counsel. These communications contained the keyword 'Elizondo' and revealed internal discussions regarding the former Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program director. The documents also referenced a resignation memo and attachments that were subsequently forwarded to other agencies.
