Background
In July 2022, Congress unanimously voted for inclusion of the most historic UAP legislation to date in the NDAA for fiscal year 2023. The language, largely crafted by Chris Mellon with bipartisan support from senators Blunt, Graham, Rubio, Gillibrand, Heinrich, and representative Gallego, required:
- Reporting on all UAP cases from January 1, 1945 onward
- Whistleblower protections for UAP-related disclosures
- Establishment of a UAP reporting database
- Acknowledgment of UAP capture/recovery/reverse-engineering programs
Significance
The most comprehensive UAP legislation in history, with unanimous bipartisan support and acknowledgment of recovery programs.
