Media: Baghdad Phantom UAP imagery publicly released
Investigative journalists Jeremy Corbell and George Knapp published leaked military UAP footage from Iraq on their podcast. The thermal imagery, captured in 2022, was officially acknowledged by the Pentagon as unauthenticated. The release generated significant attention regarding military encounters in active conflict zones.
Background
On March 7, 2023, journalists Jeremy Corbell and George Knapp released previously unseen US military footage documenting an unidentified aerial phenomenon encountered near Baghdad, Iraq, during May 2022. The disclosure occurred during episode seven of their 'Weaponized' podcast, showcasing six still frames and video segments captured by Air Force Reaper drones.
The publication prompted a response from the Pentagon, which stated they could neither authenticate the imagery nor provide additional information about the incident. The footage had been officially designated as a UAP by the Air Force, though it was not initially integrated into active Department of Defense investigations due to information-sharing obstacles. Following the public release, the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) reportedly became aware of the case.
