Background
On January 19, 2024, Christopher Mellon forwarded a screenshot to defense review officials via email. The image contained a message allegedly sent years earlier by a former Department of Defense employee. This correspondent claimed they were being briefed into a highly sensitive program concerning the exploitation of technology from off-world sources. Mellon indicated he had already removed identifying information about the alleged gatekeeper to protect confidentiality. He stated his goal was demonstrating why he considered such extraordinary claims worthy of attention, while maintaining neutrality regarding their actual validity. This submission followed an earlier attempt through postal mail that had been returned to him after an employee incorrectly flagged it as a security threat.
