Near Area 51: UAV crash with tampering evidence
An unmanned aircraft from Creech AFB crashed near Area 51 on September 23, 2025, without injuries. Investigators later found signs of tampering, including foreign parts, prompting USAF and FBI probes.
Background
Incident Details
Early morning on September 23, 2025, a non-fatal aircraft mishap occurred northeast of Las Vegas, Nevada, close to the Area 51 facility. The Federal Aviation Administration imposed a temporary flight restriction over a five-nautical-mile zone east of the base, citing national security concerns. US Air Force personnel cleared the site soon after.
Official Response
The 432d Air Expeditionary Wing at Creech Air Force Base confirmed on September 30 no fatalities, injuries or damage occurred. They identified the craft as an unmanned aerial vehicle, possibly an MQ-9 Reaper drone, though other types operate there. Cleanup finished by September 27.
Tampering Discovery
On October 3, a follow-up survey revealed manipulation evidence: an inert training bomb casing and an unidentified aircraft panel placed after the event. The USAF Office of Special Investigations and FBI launched inquiries.
Witness Claims
Joerg Arnu, founder of Dreamland Resort, reported overhearing security communications linking the event to an Area 51 hangar and a major nighttime military exercise. He doubts the official unmanned drone story and noted heavy security presence.
