Canadian Forces (CF) was the name of Canada's unified armed forces from 1968 until a 2011 renaming to Canadian Armed Forces (CAF). The unification merged the previously distinct Royal Canadian Army, Royal Canadian Navy, and Royal Canadian Air Force into a single organisation under the Department of National Defence.

UAP-Related Activity

Canadian Forces personnel documented UAP encounters throughout the Cold War, particularly through NORAD radar stations across the Canadian Arctic and North Atlantic. Notable cases include the 1975 Falconbridge NORAD incident, in which a 100-foot sphere with crater-like markings was tracked for six hours over Ontario; UAP reports from CFB Winnipeg and CFB Comox; and multiple Arctic radar-track incidents feeding into the NORAD joint-picture with the US.

Legacy

Canadian Forces records form the bulk of the Canadian UAP archive available through Library and Archives Canada. The 2011 rename to Canadian Armed Forces did not affect the continuity of UAP reporting infrastructure. This entry represents references to the 1968-2011 era specifically.
