Background

The Chilean Air Force (Fuerza Aérea de Chile, FACh) is the air branch of the Chilean armed forces.

The FACh oversees the investigation of UAP through CEFAA.

• CEFAA was established in 1997 under its authority.
• General Ricardo Bermudez Sanhueza directed CEFAA from 1998 to 2002 and was reinstated in 2010.
• One of the first air forces to officially recognize and investigate anomalous aerial phenomena.
