Department of National Defence (Canada)
The Department of National Defence (DND), founded in 1922, is Canada's federal government military department overseeing national defense. In UAP/UFO research, DND maintained public sighting files, dispatched investigators to landing sites, and kept reports confidential. In 1952, its Defence Research Board launched Project Second Storey to assess 'flying saucer' reports from armed services. By 1967, UFO oversight shifted to the National Research Council, declassifying DND's projects including Project Magnet. DND receives UAP reports via operational networks alongside the Royal Canadian Air Force. No secret reverse-engineering programs found. Today, DND supports scientific approaches amid Sky Canada recommendations for structured federal tracking. (512 characters)
