Florida MUFON
Florida MUFON is the Florida state chapter of the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON), a civilian nonprofit organization founded in 1969 as the Midwest UFO Network and renamed in 1973 to reflect its global scope. Operating in the United States, it focuses on grassroots investigation of UAP/UFO sightings, with Florida MUFON handling over 400 reports annually through volunteer investigators trained in data collection, radar analysis, and field exams. Key activities include documenting cases like the 1987-1988 Gulf Breeze incident, where MUFON deemed it their 'best case,' boosting membership fourfold, and responding to recent events such as commenting on Obama's 2026 alien remarks via assistant state director Rusty Hester. Notable achievements encompass partnerships with J. Allen Hynek’s Center for UFO Studies, hosting symposia, and maintaining a 10% unexplained cases rate after debunking 90%. Currently active with 118 members including former NASA personnel, it contributes to worldwide UFO research without government affiliation.
