House Intelligence Committee
The United States House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI), founded in 1977, is a U.S. government congressional committee overseeing intelligence activities. In UAP/UFO research, its Subcommittee on Counterterrorism, Counterintelligence, and Counterproliferation held the first public UAP hearing in over 50 years on May 17, 2022, with military officials discussing unexplained aerial phenomena reports since 2004. Key activities include probing DoD and IC transparency on UAP programs like AARO, addressing national security risks from UAP incursions, and pushing for whistleblower protections and declassification. Notable achievements: reducing reporting stigma, securing unclassified ODNI reports (2021), and influencing NDAA 2022 establishing AARO. Currently active, with ongoing hearings via Oversight subcommittees demanding accountability on undisclosed UAP spending and encounters.
