Office of Naval Intelligence
The Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI), founded in 1882, is a U.S. government agency under the Department of the Navy responsible for naval intelligence collection and analysis. In UAP/UFO research, ONI hosted the Unidentified Aerial Phenomena Task Force (UAPTF) from 2017 to 2022 to standardize collection and reporting of UFO sightings, particularly those by naval aviators in training ranges. It gathered data on 144 UAP observations from 2004-2021, focusing on potential national security threats. Notable achievements include contributing to the 2021 Preliminary Assessment by the Director of National Intelligence and supporting release of Pentagon UFO videos from Navy pilots. UAPTF transitioned to the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO). ONI remains active in intelligence operations.
