Office of the Chief of Naval Operations (N2/N6)

The Office of the Chief of Naval Operations (N2/N6), also known as the Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Information Warfare/Director of Naval Intelligence, is a U.S. government military organization founded in its current form around 2019 as part of the Navy's structure. Based in the United States, it oversees naval intelligence, information warfare, cybersecurity, and related domains. Key activities include managing the Unidentified Aerial Phenomena Task Force (UAPTF), established in August 2020 under its auspices to detect, analyze, and catalog UAP potentially threatening national security, addressing incursions into training ranges. Notable achievements encompass issuing updated UFO/UAP reporting guidelines for pilots, providing congressional briefings, and contributing data to the 2021 ODNI Preliminary Assessment on UAP. It supported investigations into anomalous aerial objects near military sites. Currently active, N2/N6 continues integrating UAP efforts into broader anomaly resolution post-UAPTF transition to AARO, emphasizing safety, security, and intelligence gaps.
