Pantex Plant
The Pantex Plant, established during World War II (around 1942), is a U.S. government facility in Carson County, Texas, operated by PanTeXas Deterrence, LLC for the Department of Energy's National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). As the nation's sole nuclear weapons assembly and disassembly site, it handles maintenance, modification, evaluation, and dismantlement of nuclear weapons, interim plutonium pit storage, and R&D on high explosives. Key partnerships with universities like Texas Tech, Texas A&M, and West Texas A&M via CRADAs and facilities like the Palo Duro Research Facility advance technology transfer and workforce development. Notable achievements include stockpile stewardship and wildlife conservation awards. Currently active, it ensures nuclear security without direct ties to UAP/UFO research.
