PanTeXas Deterrence, LLC
PanTeXas Deterrence, LLC (PXD) is a joint venture established in 2024 to manage and operate the Pantex Plant for the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). Based in the United States, it is a for-profit contractor led by BWX Technologies, Inc., in partnership with Fluor, SOC (a Day & Zimmermann Company), and the Texas A&M University System. PXD's primary activities include nuclear weapons assembly and disassembly, special nuclear material testing, high explosives manufacturing, and plutonium pit storage. Since assuming operations on November 1, 2024, PXD maintains the safety, security, and effectiveness of the U.S. nuclear weapons stockpile. The contract is valued at approximately $1.5 billion annually with a potential 20-year duration.
