SEPRA was the French government's UFO investigation unit from 1988 to 2004, succeeding GEPAN within CNES. Under Jean-Jacques Velasco (1983-2004), SEPRA broadened its mission to include all reentry phenomena in addition to unidentified aerospace phenomena. It maintained the GEPAN database of UAP sightings since 1951 and was succeeded by GEIPAN in 2005.
