The U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Ground Vehicle Systems Center (DEVCOM GVSC), located at Detroit Arsenal in Warren, Michigan, USA, is a government research laboratory under the U.S. Army. Its roots trace to the Tank Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center (TARDEC), reorganized into DEVCOM around 2019. Employing over 1,800 civilians, 1,100 contractors, and soldiers, it serves as the DoD's center of excellence for ground vehicle systems modernization, sustainment, and lifecycle support for U.S. Armed Forces, federal agencies, and 60+ foreign countries. Key activities include R&D in autonomous systems, ground vehicle robotics, power/mobility, electrification, survivability, electronics, advanced manufacturing, modeling/simulation, and prototyping. It develops ROS-Military (ROS-M), a government-owned autonomy software ecosystem based on Robotic Operating System standards, fostering modular interoperability and innovation. No direct involvement in UAP/UFO research is documented; focus remains on military ground vehicle technologies for Army modernization and warfighter overmatch. Currently active, led by Director Ms. Marta Tomkiw.
