USS Russell (DDG-59)
The USS Russell (DDG-59) is a U.S. Navy Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer, commissioned in 1993. As a government military vessel based in the United States, it gained prominence in UAP/UFO research due to a July 2019 incident off the California coast near San Diego, where its crew recorded an 18-second night-vision video of three pyramid-shaped unidentified aerial phenomena (UAPs) hovering approximately 700 feet above the ship's deck. The footage, leaked by filmmaker Jeremy Corbell, was authenticated by the Pentagon and included in examinations by the Unidentified Aerial Phenomena Task Force (UAPTF). The objects exhibited unusual flight patterns, non-aerodynamic shapes, and behaviors not attributed to U.S. or foreign technology. This event is among the most credible military-documented UAP sightings, also involving drone swarm interactions on July 17 and 30. The ship remains active in the U.S. Pacific Fleet, contributing to national security and UAP data collection efforts.
