Arleigh Burke

Arleigh A. Burke (1901-1996) was an American naval officer who served as Chief of Naval Operations from 1955 to 1961. A recipient of the Navy Distinguished Service Medal and other honors, he played a pivotal role in modernizing the U.S. Navy during the Cold War era.
