Wright-Patterson Air Force Base
military
Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, located near Dayton, Ohio, USA, is a United States Air Force installation established in 1948. As a government military facility, it served as headquarters for three successive Air Force UFO investigation projects: Project Sign (1948), Project Grudge (1949), and Project Blue Book (1952-1969). Project Blue Book, the most extensive program, investigated 12,618 UFO sightings over 17 years, with 701 remaining unidentified. The base concluded that no UFO reports indicated national security threats or extraterrestrial origins. Records from these investigations were declassified and transferred to Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama. Wright-Patterson remains an active Air Force installation.
