Chad Underwood is a retired U.S. Navy Lieutenant Commander and fighter pilot who flew an F/A-18F Super Hornet from VFA-41 "Black Aces." During the 2004 USS Nimitz encounter, he was directed to the target area following Commander David Fravor's visual encounter, where he captured the famous FLIR1 ("Tic Tac") infrared video using his aircraft's Forward Looking Infrared (FLIR) system.
