Craig Weitzel

Craig R. Weitzel is an American Civil Air Patrol cadet associated with Dobbins AFB, Georgia. On July 16, 1980, between 10:30-10:45 A.M., while visiting Kirtland AFB, New Mexico, he observed a dull metallic colored UFO flying from south to north near Pecos, New Mexico. Shortly after, a man identifying as 'Mr. Huck' from Sandia Laboratories approached Weitzel, claiming he had seen a secret aircraft from Los Alamos and demanding any photographs taken. Weitzel stated he had not taken photos himself but knew the photographer. OSI special agent Dody later interviewed Weitzel, took his report, and obtained the photographs. In 1985, investigator Benton Jamison located Weitzel, who confirmed the sighting and his report to Sgt. Dody. The incident highlights military interest in UFO reports near sensitive sites.
