Dale Spaur
Dale Spaur was born in 1933 and died in 1983. He served as a deputy sheriff in Portage County, Ohio.
On April 17, 1966, Spaur led a dramatic high-speed chase of a luminous UFO across multiple counties and into Pennsylvania. He pursued the object with Deputy Wilbur Neff for over 80 miles at speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour, and was joined during the chase by police officers from other jurisdictions. The case was investigated by Project Blue Book, which attributed the sighting to a satellite and Venus.
This explanation was widely rejected by the witnesses, and the chase profoundly affected Spaur. He suffered career and personal consequences from the ridicule that followed his report.
