Frank M. Brown
Frank M. Brown (1st Lieutenant, U.S. Army Air Corps) was an intelligence officer who played a pivotal role in early UFO investigations during the formative period of modern ufology. On July 31, 1947, Brown, stationed at Hamilton Air Force Base in California, received a call from pilot Kenneth Arnold regarding the Maury Island UFO incident. Brown and Captain William L. Davidson subsequently interviewed Harold Dahl about his alleged June 21, 1947 sighting of six unidentified flying objects near Maury Island, Washington. On August 1, 1947, while piloting a B-25 bomber allegedly carrying evidence from their investigation, Brown and Davidson were killed in a crash near Kelso, Washington. Their deaths marked the first fatalities of the newly independent U.S. Air Force and became historically significant in UFO research circles.
