Frank Press (1924-2020) was an American geophysicist who served as Science Advisor to President Jimmy Carter from 1977 to 1981 and Director of the Office of Science and Technology Policy. In the context of UAP/UFO research, his primary involvement came in July 1977, when he wrote to NASA Administrator Robert Frosch suggesting the formation of a panel to review any new significant findings on UFOs since the 1968 Condon Report. This action followed President Carter's interest in the topic, stemming from his own 1969 UFO sighting. NASA declined to establish a formal research program or symposium, as Frosch responded in December 1977. Press had no other known direct roles in military or government UFO programs, publications, or testimony. No notable achievements in the UAP field beyond this initiative.
