Fred Crisman
Fred Lee Crisman (1919-1975), American from Tacoma, Washington, was a fighter pilot, educator, and controversial figure in early UFO lore. He gained prominence through the 1947 Maury Island incident, claiming with Harold Dahl to witness UFOs dropping debris near Puget Sound, recovering fragments, and facing 'men in black' threats; widely deemed a hoax. Crisman insisted its authenticity in Fate Magazine (1950) and spoke on it at a 1967 UFO convention. He also claimed 1946 cave battles with non-humans during WWII. In 1968, subpoenaed by Jim Garrison in the JFK assassination probe as a potential grassy knoll shooter. Labeled a 'nexus' for conspiracies by authors.
