Harold Brown (1927-2019) was an American physicist and government official who served as Secretary of the Air Force from 1965 to 1969. During his tenure, Brown oversaw Project Blue Book, the U.S. Air Force's official UFO investigation program. He publicly stated that the Air Force had identified and explained 95% of reported UFO sightings, with none being extraterrestrial or a threat to national security. Brown testified before Congress in 1966 that most sightings were easily explained and assured lawmakers there was no evidence of extraterrestrial visitation. He defended the Air Force's transparency on UFO matters, declaring 'We're hiding nothing.' Brown's leadership culminated in the termination of Project Blue Book in December 1969, following recommendations from the Condon Committee.
