Laurie Wickens was a Canadian witness to the Shag Harbour UFO incident of October 4, 1967, in Nova Scotia. He was among the first to observe a large illuminated object crash into the waters of Shag Harbour while driving with four friends, having spotted the object descending offshore. Believing initially that he had witnessed a crashed airplane, Wickens reported the incident to the RCMP.

His report initiated an official investigation that involved the RCMP, Canadian Coast Guard, RCMP divers, and Department of National Defence. Multiple witnesses, including Wickens, subsequently saw the object floating 250-300 meters offshore, though authorities established no conventional explanation for the event.

Wickens played a pivotal role as a primary witness throughout the proceedings. His call to the RCMP in Barrington Passage triggered the rescue and recovery efforts, and he observed the object at close range from a better vantage point.

The incident remains notable in UFO history and is considered one of the best-documented UFO cases in Canadian history. Both Canadian military and U.S. agencies investigated the matter without reaching a resolution.
