On October 4, 1967, multiple witnesses across Nova Scotia observed unusual lights and objects, culminating in a large unidentified object crashing into the waters off Shag Harbour, prompting RCMP response.

Near Sambro at 9:00 p.m., Captain Leo Howard Mersey and 20 crew on MV Nickerson spotted four bright red lights in rectangular array low over water, with radar confirmation and intense flares causing afterimages. They notified Lunenburg authorities.
Nordwestlich von Brier Island Between 11:00-11:30 p.m., a fishing vessel's captain and crew saw a moon-sized white light, from which three yellow lights emerged forming a triangle, maneuvering rapidly across the sky.
Southwest of Weymouth A policeman and three wardens observed an orange glow near treetops, moving silently with sparking emissions.
Shag Harbour Crash At 11:20 p.m. west of Shag Harbour, Laurie Wickens and four teens saw a low-flying object with sequential flashing lights descending at 45Β° angle amid whistling, whoosh, and bang sounds. It impacted 820-980 feet offshore, drifting with pale yellow illumination. Wickens reported a possible plane crash to RCMP, leading to 10 officers' arrival and contact with Halifax Rescue Centre.
