Nader Yousefi
Nader Yousefi served as an Imperial Iranian Air Force officer and held the position of Assistant Deputy Commander of Operations during the 1976 Tehran UFO incident. He received initial civilian reports of an unidentified aerial object on September 18-19, 1976, initially suspecting that these reports constituted misidentifications of stars or the planet Venus. However, Yousefi personally witnessed the object from his residence in northern Tehran and confirmed it was not a celestial body, describing the object as extremely bright and significantly larger than ordinary stars.
Yousefi ordered the scrambling of an F-4 Phantom jet from Shahrokhi Air Force Base to intercept and investigate the unknown object, coordinating with air traffic control and military command to respond to the encounter. He served as a primary military witness to the incident's extraordinary events and witnessed firsthand the electromagnetic effects on the intercepting aircraft, including instrumentation failures.
Yousefi was featured in an Iranian government film documenting the 1976 Tehran UFO incident, and his testimony and decision-making proved crucial to the military response to the unidentified aerial phenomenon.
