Robert Emmett Ginna Jr.
Robert Emmett Ginna Jr. (1925-2025) was an American journalist and writer renowned for his pivotal role in early UFO research through a landmark Life magazine article. Born in 1925 to Robert Emmet Ginna Sr., an executive in Rochester, he co-authored 'Have We Visitors From Space?' with H.B. Darrach Jr., published April 7, 1952. Ginna spent over a year investigating 10 UFO sightings, securing quotes from experts like German rocket scientist Walther Riedel, who asserted an extraterrestrial basis. The sympathetic piece fueled public interest, contributing to the 1952 UFO flap, and drew Air Force scrutiny, as noted by Project Blue Book head Edward J. Ruppelt. It remains one of the most influential UFO articles. Ginna later expressed dismay at attracting UFO enthusiasts. He died March 3, 2025, at age 99.
